Prof. Dr. Barbara Cagnie studeerde af als kinesitherapeut (1999) en manueel therapeut (2001) aan de Universiteit Gent. In 2005 behaalde ze haar doctoraat in de Motorische revalidatie en Kinesitherapie. Sinds 2013 is ze voltijd docent aan de vakgroep REVAKI van de UGent.

Studie en specialisme

Haar onderwijs en onderzoek, evenals haar klinische expertise, zijn specifiek gericht op onderzoek en behandeling van nekpijn.

Publicaties

Ze is auteur van meer dan 100 internationale publicaties, geeft cursussen op nationaal en internationaal niveau en schreef drie boeken over klinisch onderzoek, oefentherapie en manuele therapie bij nekaandoeningen.

Over prof. dr. Erik Witvrouw

Erik Witvrouw promoveerde in 1998 tot doctor in de Motorische revalidatie en Kinesitherapieaande K.U. Leuven met als onderwerp ‘risicofactorenenkinesitherapeutische aanpak van patellofemorale aandoeningen’. Sinds 1999 is hij voltijds docent aan de UGent, vakgroep Revalidatiewetenschappen en Kinesitherapie. Ook is hij sinds 2003 hoofd van de unit Sportrevalidatie-evaluatiecentrum van het Centrum voor sportgeneeskunde UZ Gent.

Zijn interesse domein is de sportgeneeskunde, waarin hij nog altijd als clinicus werkt in het Centrum voor sportgeneeskunde.

Internationale ervaring

Erik werkte enkele jaren als docent, fysiotherapeut en wetenschapper in Quatar, Doha, in Aspetar Hospital, een van de beste orthopedisch en sportmedische ziekenhuizen van de wereld. Erik heeft daar opnieuw uniek onderzoek kunnen doen.

Onderzoek en publicaties

Zijn onderzoeksdomein situeert zich binnen de sportgeneeskunde, met name het domein van de knierevalidatie. In dit domein heeft hij meer dan 80 internationale en nationale publicaties op zijn naam en behaalde hij enkele wetenschappelijke onderscheidingen. Lees hier enkele van zijn publicaties.

About Kjartan Vibe Fersum

Kjartan Vibe Fersum is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and a researcher. He is currently combining work in a private clinic in Bergen, Norway 3 days a week, in addition to working 50% as an associate Professor at University of Bergen.

Interest in pain disorders

His research interest lies in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal pain disorders and the title of his PhD thesis was “Classification and targeted treatment of patients with Non Specific Chronic Low Back Pain” where Cognitive Functional Therapy (CFT) was the core work of the thesis.

His work

He was the lead investigator of the first randomized controlled trial on CFT to test the efficacy of this intervention compared to manual therapy and exercises for long lasting low back pain, published in The European Journal of Pain in 2013. He is also part of a international collaboration group behind the pain-ed website (www.pain-ed.com) that aims to translate the latest research regarding the cognitive functional therapy, informing both the public and other health care professionals.

Patients with long lasting back pain

He is currently one of the principal investigator for a another randomized controlled trial (FaKTa project) to test CFT compared to neuroscience education and exercise among patients with long lasting back pain in elderly care (nursing homes and home care).

MSc Bart van Buchem

Over Bart van Buchem

Bart van Buchem is sinds 2007 werkzaam als fysiotherapeut en is gespecialiseerd in het behandelen en begeleiden van mensen met chronische pijn en functionele stoornissen.

Studie en specialisme

In 2010 studeerde Bart af als ‘Master in Physiotherapy’ in de psychosomatische fysiotherapie. Zijn interesse gaat uit naar chronische pijn en de ontwikkelingen voor de behandelmogelijkheden op dit gebied. Naast het behandelen van patiënten adviseert hij netwerken, opleidingen en collega’s over de laatste ontwikkelingen op dit gebied

Publicaties van Bart en NOI

Samen met Mark Langerhorst vertaalde Bart het boek met de titel ‘Explain Pain’ naar het Nederlands. Tevens is hij docent aan het NOI en geeft daar de cursus Explain Pain.

About Val Jones

Val Jones is a Clinical Physiotherapy Specialist working at the Sheffield Shoulder and Elbow Unit at the Sheffield Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust and also works in private practice.

International lectures

Val lectures nationally and internationally about the assessment and rehabilitation of the elbow joint.

Publications and presentations

Val has published in peer reviewed journals and is a previous AHP representative on the British Elbow and Shoulder Society Council, as well as being the current UK national delegate for EUSSER. She has organised and presented upon the highly successful Sheffield Elbow course for Physiotherapists and has recently been awarded a prestigious Copeland Fellowship from the British Elbow and Shoulder Society.

prof. dr. Jeremy Lewis

Jeremy Lewis is a Consultant Physiotherapist and Research & Innovation Lead for the Musculoskeletal Service at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust in London, UK. He has been acknowledged as one of the 5 most eminent clinicians in his profession (The UK Department of Health National AHP Clinical Expert Database).

He assesses and treats patients with shoulder problems and performs ultrasound guided injections, if appropriate and required, as part of the treatment process.

Over Anju Jaggi, schouder specialist bij Fysiolinks

Anju Jaggi heeft een passie voor het constant verbeteren van de behandeling van moeilijke schouderklachten en promotie van de fysiotherapie en revalidatie van de schouder. Zij heeft als fysiotherapeute sinds 17 jaar een leidende rol bij onderzoek naar de verbetering van de behandeling van complexe schouder pijn en instabiliteit bij het: Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOHT).

Internationale lezingen en voordrachten

Anju geeft internationale lezingen en gaf verschillende wetenschappelijke voordrachten. Zij heeft een ere doctoraat aan University College London (UCL) en is ex presidente van de European Society of Shoulder and Elbow Rehabilitation (EUSSER). Na haar bestuurlijke rol in the British Shoulder & Elbow Society Education committee is zij daar ook nog steeds een actief lid.

Anju publiceert artikelen op het gebied van motorische controle van de schouder en geeft leiding aan het ‘dubbel blind, placebo RCT’ naar a-traumatische schouder instabiliteit.

About Fredrik

Fredrik Johansson is a manual therapist and physical coach, working in several settings within sports medicine in Sweden and Belgium. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Scandinavian College of manual therapy in Stockholm, where he is responsible for the medical program and is a physiotherapist at a private practice.

Physical coach for top tennis players

As a physical coach working for the Swedish Tennis Federation, Johansson is responsible for the physical training, physical tests, screening and strategic guidelines for national top players in Sweden.

Since 2009, he is also Board Member of the Swedish Society of Sports Medicine.

Education

Fredrik obtained a Master degree in Child and Adolescent Health and Disease Prevention from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He obtained the PhD title of Doctor in Health Sciences in 2017 at the Ghent University, Belgium, and performs research on the elite adolescent tennis player’s shoulder.

About Karl Jacobs

Karl is a lead dissector and accredited anatomist, presently working at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and at the “ACTA” Academic Centre for Dental Science. He collaborates with the Department of Medical Biology, Section Clinical Anatomy & Embryology of the University of Amsterdam.

Education

He graduated as a Physical therapist at the University of applied science for physiotherapy, “Thim van der Laan”, Utrecht the Netherlands in 2003. As a physical therapist he has always been interested in the diagnostic assessment and orthopaedic rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders. In 2017 he graduated at the university of Birmingham UK as MSc in the functional and clinical anatomy.

His work as lecturer

Since 2006, he has worked as a lecturer at the Amsterdam University of applied science for physiotherapy and was responsible for the delivery of the dissection and anatomy program. He participated for several years as lecturer in the musculoskeletal ultrasound courses at the Amsterdam Medical Centre, organised by Enraf-Nonius and SonoSkills. Now a days most of his teaching includes post academic education.

His area of interest

As an anatomist his area of special interest is the functional anatomy of the musculoskeletal system, anatomy of head and neck and he has a special interest for the anatomy of the fascial system. For his graduation as MSc Functional and Clinical Anatomy at the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom) in 2017; he wrote his final dissertation on the embryological, histological, physiological and morphological aspects of the fascial system.
